About Road Rest Area " Abira D51 Station"
This roadside station is a tourist information base for Abira Town,
which gathers the attractions of nature, history, culture, and food.
“Michi-no-Eki Abira D51 Station” opened on April 19, 2019 in Abira Town. It takes about 30 minutes from Chitose Airport and less than 1 hour from Sapporo by car.
Inside the building, there are Famers markets, a takeout counter, a specialty products/bakery corner, and the railway museum that exhibits steam locomotives and more.
Abira town has many special products such as cheese and the Asahi melon, and is full of various attractions such as canola fields in the hills, blossomed lotus flowers in the summer, a snowman post office, steam locomotive, golf courses etc…
It is also receiving a lot of attention as a racehorse breeding region, where Deep Impact, who won seven Japanese Domestic Grade 1 races, and Gentildonna were born.
